Ropeways and slopes

The holiday area Plan de Corones has a total of 32 ropeways. Most of them are located directly on the mountain which gives its name to the skiing resort, while some are situated in lateral valleys. There are 100km of downhill runs which are prepared with artificial snow. The European pioneers of artificial snow are at home in the area around Plan de Corones, and more exactly in San Vigilio di Marebbe. Erich Kastlunger, former president of the ropeway association Funivie San Vigilio, was the first one to believe in the once revolutionary American technology. Today more than 200 snow cannons supplement naturally occurring snow and contribute to the perfect preparation of the slopes on Plan de Corones from the end of November to mid April. The three ranges of Plan de Corones form one sole wide skiing area to offer a unique skiing experience.
