Winter walks
There is nothing more enchanting than hiking through the snow-cowered winter landscape. In San Vigilio, the most beautiful paths in the immediate vicinity of the village are groomed to allow walkers to savour this unique experience without difficulty. Especially on sunny days, which are very numerous in our area, it is a real pleasure to set out on a discovery trip around San Vigilio to view the farms, high hillsides, forest streets and the theme path dedicated to the legend of Fanes. All paths are well marked and sign-posted.Theme path “The Legends of Fanes”
Starting at Hotel Aqua Bad Cortina in San Vigilio, cross the little bridge and walk up the forest street. Turn left. Follow the even foot path for about 1km and stop off at the posters and charts arranged along the trail which tell of princesses, sorcerers, marmots, king eagles, important characters and protagonists of the Fanes legends. At Ciamaur, right near the football field, use the side-walk that flanks the street to return to San Vigilio or continue to Torpei. Walking time: 1.5 hours.
Walking tour to Torpei
Reach Ciamaur by walking along the paved street to Pederü or by following the winter theme path. At the bridge, take the trail on the right side of the Rü de Fojedöra river. Cross the woods of Brüscia until you come to the access road to Torpei. Continue on the paved street until you arrive at the farms of Torpei. Return to San Vigilio on the paved street through Pinei and La Bronta and enjoy the panoramic view. Walking time: about 2 hours.
Walking tour to Val dla Tor
Walk to La Bronta, to the start of the ropeway Miara. Follow the rather steep paved street flanking the slope until you get to the refuge Chi Vai. Continue on the same street and keep left at the turn. Descend to the little group of houses called Val dal Tor. Cross the small hamlet and enjoy the panoramic view upon Sasso Putia. Continue on the dirt road crossing the wood and reach Costa, where you will experience a most suggestive sight on San Vigilio di Marebbe, the surrounding mountains and the Marebbe Valley. Return to San Vigilio on the paved access road. Walking time: 1.5 hours.
