Wind instruments and the pipe are intrinsically "related" through the production of sound and the material with which they are built. The pipe tries to imitate the sound of the flute through its registers. Frescobaldi's keyboard works are famous, divided into various sections of different character and expression ("affections" and "effects"). A common musical practice in the Renaissance was the ad hoc instrumental diminution of important pieces of vocal music. A piece frequently used for this practice was the madrigal Vestiva i colli by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina or Ancor, which started with Cipriano de Rore. The musical language of the Baroque period is characterized by a rich system of musical figures that correspond to a musical rhetoric and are linked to the expression of different "affections". In the late Baroque period, with G.P. Telemann and J.S. Bach, a cross-border diffusion of the musical styles of the time developed. From the school of the Italian virtuoso violinists a famous chaconne was transmitted to us. Although the sources of this composition do not agree, several clues lead us to think that the author of this composition is Tomaso Vitali.
