The Museum Ladin Ursus ladinicus was opened
in St. Kassian in July 2011 and is dedicated to the
prehistoric cave bear and the geology of the Dolomites.
On three floors, visitors can learn everything
about the history and habitat of the cave bears
that lived around 40,000 years ago.
On display are original bones, teeth and skulls of
a new species of cave bear, the Ladin Ursus ladinicus. A separate section uses beautiful fossils to
